I had a bad flu starting at Thanksgiving. I went to our prompt care, tested negative, but my blood pressure was elevated 130s/90s. Week before last I had a follow up with my primary. That day my blood pressure was 132/96. Apparently my health system is policy is that if you have two blood pressure readings elevated they require you to go on medication. Primary put me (49f, overweight) on 10mg Lisinopril despite my begging her to give me a couple weeks and check it again to make sure it wasn't the flu or cold meds and all the holiday parties. I have had occasional high blood pressure in the past but it was always a one-off. I do have a home monitor and watch it. As soon as I clean up my diet it always goes back down. I have a history of kidney stones and am supposed to follow a very low sodium diet. My blood pressure has been gradually rising since I started taking Lisinopril 12 days ago. I also have been eating clean (800-1000mg sodium/day). Look at this! (Photos of my bp this morning, higher one was first) 160s/110s, 150s/110s!! https://imgur.com/a/cvXnARo I called my primary's office yesterday and they said that's impossible and to just keep doing as I am until my follow up (mid-January). Is there something I could be missing? I haven't taken any medications or supplements except for this one since I started it. Is there something I could be eating or drinking that is reacting with the medication and causing it? I am so lost and honestly getting scared.
